Past Projects

Asylum Seekers and Refuges Arts Project 'Meet-UP' This project has taken place once a month for two years; it is currently seeking further funding. Meet-UP is a multi arts project for Refugees and Asylum seekers living in the Barnsley area. The arts activities facilitated by Action Space Mobile have been diverse, from Card Making to music, Salsa dance to puppet making. The project welcomed new comers to Barnsley as well as existing residents and provided a multi-cultural celebration during the 'All Barnsley Diversity Festival'.
Funded through the Home Office Refugee Community Development Fund and the Paul Hamlyn Foundation Digital Action Zone and Sound Tapestry The projects worked with adults with learning difficulties, refugee and asylum seekers, young people and local choirs and groups as well as with volunteer support workers wishing to learn new skills to teach the basics of filmmaking and production.
Individuals were supported to learn how to produce their own film videos and sound tracks. Digital action Zone focussed on the multi media aspects whilst Sound Tapestry worked specifically with music, voice and sound. The participants were given the opportunity to learn about the processes of visual and sound recording whilst engaging in learning provided within their own community. Funded through the Neighbourhood Learning Net Community Development Fund
