In The Boat Theatre Company is an integrated company of 15 adults with learning disabilities and 4 artists (Mary Turner, Lena Sass, Val Regan and Mickey Dixon) from Action Space Mobile. 

 

The company was established in 1984 by Artistic Director, Mary Turner and meets weekly at the Heeley Institute in Sheffield. 

 

As well as developing their artistic talents, social integration and creative learning skills, the group devise and develop a yearly production that tours to small scale venues in the region. 

In The Boat and Cross The Sky Residential
 
During the weekend, 2-4 July 2010, Action Space Mobile's two theatre companies attended an enjoyable and successful visual and performance arts residential weekend at Thornbridge Outdoors Centre near Bakewell.
 
Marie O'Brien, one of the members of ITB, led the residential's opening workshop with one of CTS's artists. To follow, the groups participated in music and singing, dance, mask making and visual arts workshops, a trust and improvisation session and social activities including a  country walk and a party using the masks and costumes made and music learnt during the weekend.
 
The residential enabled all the participants to learn new skills , meet new people and to have a good time doing activities that they enjoy.  Both theatre companies look forward to our annual Residential.

To date the company has an extensive portfolio of work including the production of many touring performances, songs, books, films and animation.
 
The company have also delivered projects such as anti bullying workshops in schools. ITB has attended many events performing to wide audiences in this country and abroad.
 
The International work has taken them to Germany, Lithuania and Norway; it has also involved skills sharing work with groups from France, Romania and Greece.
 

In The Boat Band

 
Certain In the Boat Theatre Company members are also involved in the renouned 'Band', an integrated band consisting of a mix of musicians.  
 
Val Regan is the musical director of the band, look out for more information on them.

Cabaret Twilight by In The Boat Theatre Company has just completed its successful year long tour.
